At the new year day, Lily's grandparents came to see her from the countryside. They lived at there for a long time. On the way home, Lily introduced some changes about the city to them.

    Lily=L Grandpa & Grandma = G

L : Happy new year , grandpa and grandma. Long time to see you.

G : The same to you, Lily.

Lily helped them to pick up some luggage and brought them to the bus station.

G : What a big station here! There weren't any stations here. When we wanted to go some places, we only walked to there or by a track.

    L : By a track?

G : Yes, some track used to carry pigs, stones or rubbish.

L : Oh, that is surprise to me.

Five minutes later, they arrived at Lily's home.

    L : Please get up. It's here.

G : Woo, it's so fast now. At that time, we spend 40 minutes to arrive here. But now, we only spend 5 minutes. The city is quite different.

    Possible future

We shall see many changes takes place over the next fifty years. Many of these changes will probably happen because of nanotechnology—a technology that uses very ,very small things.

The world of the very small is ,in a way, as big as the universe. The world is made of atoms, and that every atom also has parts. For something very, very small the space between one part of an atom may seem to be as big as the space between the earth and the moon is for something much larger.

Nanotechnology will make it possible for us Nanotechnology will make it possible for us to put very, very small machines into our bodies. These will enable us to do many things that we cannot do now. And computers, for example, will have chips that are much smaller than they have now, but which can carry much more data. It is likely that we will be able to join our brains to very large computers. We shall become super-humans and very different from the kind of human we are today. A possible problem that could develop from nanotechnology is that could develop from nanotechnology is that these machines will know how to reproduce themselves. They could take overωr bodies and everything else.

Another likely change is that there will be many people who will live to be at least 100 years old. There may be people who are 150 years old. Genetic engineering and medical breakthroughs will enable us to be healthier and stronger. By changing certain genes in ourselves or other organisms we can prevent disease and aging.

    Birth of earth

Our universe came into being, most cosmologists agree, from 7 to ~ 15 billion years ago, in an initial "big bang” explosion that’s still expanding today.

Our home galaxy, the Milky Way, is estimated to be approximately 12 billion years old. Planet earth, the sun, and all the other planets, moons, asteroids, meteoroids, and comets of our solar system are believed to be relatively young in cosmic terms-from 4.5 to 5 billion years old Earth has a life expectancy of 12 billion years, that is, it has 7. 5 billion years before the sun explodes into a red giant that incinerates it.

    Black Hole

Black hole is a .hypothetical astronomical system. When a star near the end of its history contracts under gravitation and becomes smaller than a certain critical radius(proportional to the star’s mass),then , according to Einstein’s theory of relativity,no radiation can escape from it ;as far as the rest of the universe is concerned it becomes unobservable- -its escape velocity exceeds the speed of light. Such a black hole will still exert gravitational force, so that its existence could be inferred from the motion of neighboring bodies; several black holes have been tentatively identified in this way . What happens to the matter falling into a black hole? Does it collapse to a point of infinite density, or is this prevented by quantum mechanics, or does matter re-explode, appearing as a "white hole" in another universe? These are unsolved problems.

      Mars

Mars has no need for winter. Broken and barren, cold beyond our iciest dreams, even on its best and brightest day, one’s mood there would have to bolster itself without the hope of a better season or a new day. But still, despite all that, you know, I’d like to go. I offer no explanation. And I’m not alone. When the first of the rovers shut down this past week and was silent and unresponsive, I worried. I went out and looked at the Red Planet in the southwest and sent the little robot my good tidings. I waved for some odd reason. It felt cold out but, really, what do I know of cold?

The small, framed images of Mars that the Spirit Rover returns to us make Mars look bright and red and dusty. I assume because Mars is bright and red and dusty. Looks like it is on some side trail in Monument Valley, a bad place for street hockey or baseball. It does not appear to be minus 70 degrees Fahrenheit though that is somewhere close to the average temperature there. Generally, landscapes that look like the one I’ve seen make us Earthlings think “hot.” It isn’t. It is scare-an-Eskimo cold. But surely the little Spirit is insulated. With some sort of space age thins late, some kind of composite-fiber wonder wool, the full metal jacket of our mothering instincts. I admit that it does not look all that insulated in its widely circulated NASA portrait. It looks thin and strutty, squat like a coffee table with satellite reception and a hammerhead—it looks like spacebar square pants. Its tires appear grooved for the kind of trouble a Hummer would run from. At least we did that. And its recording eye must surely be shaded with some high-tech monocular shade for the sun’s awesome glare out there. Oh, the God awful sun of Mars. Mister Spirit does not look built for high speed, he doesn’t look that safe and secure overall, but surely we gave him a cool shade for his sensor eye.

Ms Li : Very good, Bob. You are a carefully boy. Who can tell me what changes of Shenzhen's traffics?

Sue : there were some factories around us. There are many shopping malls now, just as Renrenle Mall, Walmark Mall and Suibao Mall… 20 years ago, people went out on walk or by bikes. Now, people go out in a personal (私人的) car or by train.
