Newscaster: Dr Andrea Jenkins was the second woman astronaut to go into space when she spent seven days at the International Space Station, three years ago. She talked to our reporter about her experiences. 
Reporter: How did you become interested in space travel? 
Jenkins: Oh, I've wanted to go up into space since I was a little girl. My parents always said, "But Andrea, no women have ever gone into space!" But you see I've made it! 
Reporter: What was life in the spaceship like? 
Jenkins: There isn't a lot of space! You have to be careful when you eat. Food can easily float off the dining table and around the station. The food you eat has to be as sticky as possible. You need to add water to food to make it into a shape to eat. 
Reporter: Did you do any space walks? 
Jenkins: No, I wasn't trained for that. I was a flight engineer and I had to lead some important scientific experiments. 
Reporter: Can anyone become an astronaut? 
Jenkins: Well, you have to have a degree in science, medicine or engineering, and train for three years. You have to be between 153 and 190 cm tall, and speak good English. 
Reporter: How old do you have to be? 
Jenkins: Well, at least about 27. I was 41 when I started training. And John Glenn, one of the Apollo 11 astronauts, was 76 when he went into space the second time. Of course he was very fit but NASA wanted to show that old people can go to space too.
Reporter: Are you hoping to go up into space again? 
Jenkins: Yes, of course. As you know, I've only been for a short time; seven days isn't very much, after all that training! But I'll spend longer up there, next time.

    If I could choose my life, I would be a scientist. I would spend a lot of time in my laboratory discovering important things. I would like to find new treatments for illnesses and make the world a happier place. It would be nice to have a Nobel Prize, but more important would be to help a lot of people. I would like to go on special holidays to see how beautiful the world is with its mountains, seas, deserts and forests.
