One afternoon in the April 1912, a new ship set off from England to American on its first trip. It was the largest and finest ship at that time, and on it there were over 2,200 people.
It was cold, but the trip was pleasant and people were enjoying themselves. The next day was even colder. People could see icebergs here and there.
It was night. Suddenly the man on watch shouted,”Look out! Iceberg! Iceberg in front!”
It was too late. The ship hit the iceberg and came to a stop. There was a very big hole in the ship and water began to come inside. Slowly the ship started to sink.
People had to leave the ship. Woman and children were the first to get into the lifeboats. Suddenly a woman shouted, “Please make room for me. My children are in the boat. I must go with them! Please!”
“There’s no more room there,” someone shouted back. The children heard their mother and began to cry.
A yong woman was sitting near the poor children. She stool up. “Here,”she shouted. “Take my place! I’m not married and I have no children.”
She got out and the thankful mother joined her children in the lifeboat.
Soon aftert that, the ship sank. More than 1,500 people lost their lives.
Among those were the young woman.
Who was she? Her name was miss Evans and she was going home to Boston. But nobody knew more about her than that.

                           Britain

The British people, in my opinion, are not so concerned ( 关心 ) about their lunch during (在 .. 期间) the working days. But some families will make the Sunday lunch on weekend. It is a formal ( 正式的 ) meal. It's main dish is usually chicken or beef or lamb, toasted potato , accompanied by (配有) carrots and some vegetables. After meals, they usually have desserts, such as puddings, cakes, or ice cream. After the main course, usually, the dishes need to be put away at once. Then the table will be laid again for the dessert course.

British people work from Monday to Friday. They won't work at the weekends. If they need to work at the weekends, they will be paid double (双倍) . They like to go out traveling to spend their vacation.

The pupils and the students go to school from 9 Am to3 PM. After class, they have a lot of activities, such as singing , dancing, sports, camping. They can develop their own ability according to their own interests. Therefore (所以) , the children are usually creative ( 有创造性的 ) and bold (大胆的) and active in taking part in different kinds of activities. The children have a good sense of music.
British people usually shake hands the first time they meet, and in formal meetings. Family members and good friends kiss when they meet, but men don’t usually kiss other men. In informal situations, people just say “hello” to each other.

                    Spring Festival

Spring Festival is usually in late January or early February. It is the first day of the Chinese year. This is a very special for all Chinese people.
Before the festival, people are busy. They clean their houses and go shopping for food, presents and new clothes. In Guangzhou people go to the flower markets to look at all the beautiful flowers. Many people buy flowers, too. On the evening before Spring Festival, people usually have a big supper with their family. After supper, they watch TV or go out. At Spring Festival people go and visit their friends and family. They eat nice food. The children love this time. They can get ‘lucky money’.
In Thailand a very big festival is the Water Festival. It is the beginning of their New Year. It is usually at the end of March or the beginning of April.
Before the Water Festival, people clean their houses and cook nice food. When the Water Festival begins, people throw water all over friends and everyone gets very wet.

Ann: The first in-light movie was 70 years ago? That blows me away. I guess I'm not such a great movie fan after all.
