A long holiday

    It was a long holiday. We left Beijing on February 1st and go to Harbin on the 2 st. On the first day, I went to a park with my parents. On the 3 st, I went skiing. On the 4 st , I bought presents for my friends. We got back to Beijing by plane on the 7 st . For the last day of the holiday, we relaxed and prepared to go back to work or school.

Spring Festival

Spring Festival is the most important among all our traditional festivals. It comes in January or February; it celebrates the coming of lunar new year. People also call it Guo Nian. Chinese people celebrate the festival with many different ways, but there are many things in common. For example, firecrackers（鞭炮）It is said that long long ago, there was a monster called Nian came out to devour people on new year's eve, so people lit firecrackers to get it away. Now people lit firecrackers for fun, relaxation and excitement. In some places, people clean their houses and prepare a lot of delicious food, they put spring poems on both sides of their doors, people will go home for the big family dinner. Children can get a lot of lucky money from their parents and relationships. On the eve of the year, people chat, watch TV, and make dumplings. They eat them at 12:00. The next day is the first day of the New Year.

Mid-autumn Day

With long history, there are many customs and traditions around China. The 15th day of the eighth lunar(阴历）month is Mid-autumn Festival, it is the most important festival besides the Spring Festival. Mid-autumn Festival is in the middle of the autumn just as the name tells. On the night of the day, the moon is always the fullest and the most brilliant. People regard full moon as reunion(团圆）, so it always is called "the reunion day", so many people who travels in a place far away from home always go back to their home to celebrate the festival, they usually eat moon cakes and sit in the open air to enjoy the beautiful moon. Many people wrote down poems to describe it. Such as Li Bai's "hang my head at the bright moon, bow my head missing my hometown" Du Fu's " moon is the brightest in my hometown." and Wang'anshi's "the spring turns the southern bank green, when can I return home with the moon?"

Dear Diary

　Typhoon Yuanyuan came this morning. It was very big and dangerous. Some big trees fell and plenty of trees broke. I stayed at home and put the plants inside. Mum closed all the windows and the door. Dad found the radio and we listened to it. Our neighbor, Mr. li, wasn’t at home. He didn’t put his plant inside.It flew up and broke his window. I used our mobile phone and called him. He was very worried. Luckily, the Typhoon went and we are all OK.
